Dreams in the Night
- Job 33:14-16
- Genesis 41:15-27
Genesis 41:15-27 (NLT) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.”
“It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”
So Pharaoh told Joseph his dream. “In my dream,” he said, “I was standing on the bank of the Nile River, and I saw seven fat, healthy cows come up out of the river and begin grazing in the marsh grass. But then I saw seven sick-looking cows, scrawny and thin, come up after them. I’ve never seen such sorry-looking animals in all the land of Egypt. These thin, scrawny cows ate the seven fat cows. But afterward you wouldn’t have known it, for they were still as thin and scrawny as before! Then I woke up.
“In my dream I also saw seven heads of grain, full and beautiful, growing on a single stalk. Then seven more heads of grain appeared, but these were blighted, shriveled, and withered by the east wind. And the shriveled heads swallowed the seven healthy heads. I told these dreams to the magicians, but no one could tell me what they mean.”
Joseph responded, “Both of Pharaoh’s dreams mean the same thing. God is tellingPharaoh in advance what He is about to do. The seven healthy cows and the seven healthy heads of grain both represent seven years of prosperity. The seven thin, scrawny cows that came up later and the seven thin heads of grain, withered by the east wind, represent seven years of famine.
Job 33:14-16 (NASB)Indeed God speaks once,Or twice, yet no one notices it.
“In a dream, a vision of the night,When sound sleep falls on men,While they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men,And seals their instruction,That He may turn man aside from his conduct, And keep man from pride;
When we sleep, logic and the conscious mind are turned off and God bypasses our lower logic to impart His higher logic.
Isaiah 55:8-7(NLT) My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.“And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,so My ways are higher than your way and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Humans sleep approximately 1/3 of their life.
If you live to be 75, that equals 25 years of sleeping.
Of the 25 years spent sleeping, we spend a minimum of 6 years dreaming.
That’s a minimum of more than 3 million minutes of dreaming.
Proverbs 25:2It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Let Holy Spirit interpret those God dreams. “It is beyond my power to do this, But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”
